Give me a Brake!
2024, Radio Skit
about the project
Give Me a Brake! is my project for Sansiri's Artizen campaign. As one of the ten selected artists in the music composer category, my work aims to help with the rising road accidents in Thailand. As a radio advertisement, I present two short skits, which takes a jab at Thai driver's behaviors and habits that could result in accidents.
Project info
Two versions:
1. Zebra Cross DiseaseA call from a driver to the doctor reveals that he exhibited symptoms of inability to brake at zebra crossings. The doctor diagnosed him with Zebra Cross Disease, but it was too late and the driver crashed into a pedestrian as he is in the call. This skit cleverly uses humor and play-on words to imply Thai driver's real problematic behaviours. Ma Lai is zebra in Thai, and so, Malailia is the condition in the skit, which resembles the disease Malaria..
2. Ghost On The RoadThe narrator directly speaks through the radio to the driver, breaking the 4th wall. He encourages the driver to look around the road at night, where the fear of the supernatural can emerge. As their sense heightens, the narrator reveals that the entity is actually your boss who went to buy noodles. This skit tries to use fear to make drivers more aware of the road. From ghosts, the skit changes the perspective to fear of crashing into the boss, and that in doing so, the boss could become a spirit which haunts you outside of the workplace.
