Tourette's Syndrome
2024, Illustration
about the project
Tourette's Syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes involuntary muscle twitches and vocal tics. As I have Tourette's myself, I wanted to make an artwork that showcases the sudden and uncomfortable nature of Tourettes. My self portrait contains lines which moves in and out or even blend into myself to signify the abrupt movements. These lines are the genuine arm twitches I had. The body shifts from normal skin tone to no colors to show the need to hold this condition in public. The characters above my head represent my urges which feels like an itch or whispers for tic impulses.
